What Fertilizer Will Grow Bigger Tomatoes?
Tomato plants require a lot of nutrients in order to reach their full potential. Most tomato gardeners know that this means that fertilizer will be needed throughout the season. While synthetic fertilizers are available, natural fertilizers provide steady nutrition for your plants, build up and enrich the soil, and are better for the environment.
For huge tomatoes, you will want a fertilizer that contains the big three macronutrients of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, but also contains other important nutrients like calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, and zinc. Dr. JimZ Tomato Secret has the perfect blend of natural ingredients to produce giant tomatoes.
When and how you fertilize is also important if you hope to grow giants. At planting time, simply add one cup of Tomato Secret to the hole where you will transplant your seedlings. Work this into the soil, and then plant as usual. After six weeks, when the tomato plant is ready to produce flowers and set fruit, give the plant another boost of nutrients by side dressing them with another cup of Tomato Secret.
These steps will help you grow giant plants with tons of tomatoes, but if you are hoping to produce giant fruit, one trick is to pinch off all but one or two of the baby tomatoes when they start to form on the cluster. Doing this will allow the plant’s energy to go toward the remaining tomatoes, causing them to grow larger. Obviously, the variety of tomato that you choose plays a huge role in how big your tomatoes will get. Cherry tomatoes will never produce giant fruit, no matter how you prune them. Beefsteaks or other large varieties are ideal for this.
